So you have never had a professional photography session before and you have decided you want to be able to treasure your baby’s first few precious days as artwork to hand down the generations, but what happens in a newborn photography experience?
A Newborn Photography Session with Newborn Art by SJ Baldock
Our newborn photography experience is a chance for me to spoil you. You can sit back and relax in my own home-from-home studio and enjoy tea, coffee, cold drinks and cookies while I capture timeless images of your precious newborn and some timeless images of mum and dad too. (You will be amazed at how many mums and dads are reluctant to be in front of the camera and end up choosing their first family image as their large wall art).
Our newborn photography experience includes up to 4 hours in the studio and everything is done at ‘baby’s speed’ so we factor in time for lots of cuddles along the way. Many of our families are returning with their second, third or even fourth precious newborn and we love including siblings as well.
Often we have a separate ‘family and sibling mini-session’ on another day to fit in with childcare or school and to avoid siblings getting bored (we do have a projector that we can screen films or even Peppa Pig if we can’t arrange a separate mini-session). This is all included with our experience.
For many of you, this may be the first time you have all left the house as a family, so we do everything we can to make sure it’s a truly memorable and pampering experience. The studio is a warm and cosy environment for mum, dad, and baby to enjoy, and we supply everything baby might need throughout your visit, we try to think of everything to look after you all.
What is Included in a Newborn Photography Session?
Many people ask what is included in a newborn photography experience. Each photography studio is different in terms of what they include, how they present their galleries and what final artwork they offer. Some will charge extra to include families during the session, some will offer online viewing of your images after your session, and some will only offer digital artwork that you can print yourself. It really depends on what you are looking for.
At Newborn Art by SJ Baldock, our newborn photography experience includes the studio session itself mentioned above, as well as a cinema-style viewing about a week after your studio session, this can be an evening or a weekend if it is more convenient.
At your viewing, you get to choose a mounted 10×8” art print from your session, which is included as part of your experience. You then choose additional artwork from your session if you wish. We offer a wide range of bespoke artwork options such as canvases, framed or acrylic wall art, folio boxes, albums and digital images. You will go home with the full product list after your session and that will give you plenty of time to have a think about what you might want before your viewing.
We put together packages designed specifically for each individual family so we don’t tend to have fixed packages available. We always say have a think before your viewing about what you want, even measure your walls at home, and then we will tailor a package for you. We want you to have the perfect artwork that you will treasure forever and be proud to display on your walls for many years to come.
How Much is Our Newborn Photography Experience?
Interestingly, one of my lovely clients said recently “When we booked for a newborn photography experience, we knew we would love the final images but we didn’t realise how much we would enjoy the whole experience“. That comment made me so happy as that is what I want to do, to be part of your first memories with your precious newborn baby.
When you look at your artwork on the wall, not only will you remember your beautiful baby when they were so tiny but you will also remember your newborn photography experience as something very special.
Our newborn photography experience is £125 and includes all of the above as well as £40 to put towards additional artwork. Prices start from £49 for a mounted 5×7” art print. Details of some of our more popular artwork options are available on the website, you can read about our pricing here.
We are always adding new options to our product list based on what our clients say they want, so if you have anything specific that you are interested in, do let us know.
When Should I Book my Newborn Photoshoot?
You will be the only family in the studio on the day of your session so we can only take a certain number of bookings each week. Also, babies don’t always arrive on their due date so we have to allow for session dates to move, which again limits how many bookings we can take. To avoid disappointment we always suggest you get in contact once you have had your 12-week scan.
At that time, we book a provisional date for about 7 days after your due date. This secures your session and depending on when your baby arrives, we can easily move it the date to suit. We suggest a morning session for our newborn experiences as babies tend to be more settled in the morning. That said we can always be flexible with what works for you and can fit around unexpected hospital stays, illness and the rest of the family’s availability, after all this is your newborn experience.
It is worth mentioning that if you are looking to book when your baby is about to arrive or has just arrived, we may still be able to fit you in so don’t think you’ve missed your chance if you are booking later on. Please do give us a call to check session availability.
Why Should you Choose a Newborn Experience with Us?
Newborn Art by SJ Baldock was born because I know our most treasured newborn moments are gone so quickly and I wanted to be able to capture those precious memories for new mums and dads to remember, treasure and share for generations to come.
I want to capture your tiny newborn’s perfect features and your feeling of overwhelming love which sweeps over you when you first hold your newborn baby. When my youngest son was just a few months old, I realised I had missed capturing those precious first moments in any form of artwork. I had some quick snaps on my phone but nothing I could treasure and pass down the generations. I don’t want you to feel the same way.
We aim to wow our clients with the most wonderful experience and capture images you will fall in love with. We often have a few tears of joy at the viewing and always have tissues on hand!
It’s important to assure you that every possible aspect of your baby’s health and safety is at the heart of every newborn photography experience we do.
To help you choose the right photographer for your newborn session, we have a helpful guide which covers all the main points you need to know about and you can download this below.
Please get in touch with any further questions and we look forward to welcoming you to the studio.
